Why dinner is hard
And what G'day Spud does about each one.
The problem
Deciding what to cook, every single night.
The week's dinners are picked for you, once a week.
It's usually one person's job.
It plans the week and writes the list, so nobody has to.
Everyone eats different things.
Tell it what your household won't eat, and those dinners never come up.
By Thursday, it's takeaway again.
One shop covers the week, so Thursday's dinner is already in the fridge.
Meal kits help, but can cost $13 a serve.4
The same planning, for about $6 a serve at Woolworths.3

You know meal kits? The dinners are worked out for you, and it can be $13 a serve. I wanted that at supermarket prices, so I built it.
Questions
Is it a meal kit?
No box turns up. It plans the week's dinners, then fills your own Coles or Woolworths online cart with what they need, in normal supermarket packs. You cook from the steps in the app.
Which supermarkets?
Coles or Woolworths. Pick one when you start, and the shopping list is priced there. You can switch in Settings. No Aldi or IGA, but you can take the list into any shop.
Does it deliver?
The supermarket does, or you pick it up. The cart is your own Coles or Woolworths order, so you choose the time and pay at their checkout, with their usual fees. You sign in to your account with them once, inside the app. Rather shop in person? Tick the list off in the aisle.
What does the app cost?
$15 a month, paid on this website rather than through the App Store. Your groceries are paid for at the supermarket's own checkout, as usual, with its own delivery fee.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from the link in any receipt email or in the app's Settings, and it stops at the end of the month you've paid for. There's no weekly box to skip, because nothing is bought until you check out at the supermarket.
What if someone won't eat something?
Tick what your household won't eat when you start, from mushrooms and coriander to pork or seafood. Those dinners stay out of the week. Swap any dinner that still doesn't suit.
Allergies or special diets?
Tick any of the 12 allergen groups on Australian food labels, or vegetarian, vegan or pescatarian. A dinner with one of them, or with an ingredient the app can't check, stays out of the week, so some weeks come up short. Vegetarian weeks are short for now. Always check the packaging.
How many people does it feed?
As many as you tell it, kids included, and everyone gets a full plate. The shopping list buys for that many. Cooking for one or two? It plans enough for lunch the next day. You can change the serves on any night.
How long do the dinners take?
Most take 40 minutes to an hour and a half, start to finish, prep included. Roasts, pies and slow ragus take two hours or more, so swap one out on a busy night.
Will the price match the checkout?
It's an estimate from Coles' and Woolworths' own online prices, specials included, counting whole packs the way the till does. Your cart shows the supermarket's own total before you pay, and that's the one that counts.
What if something's out of stock?
Before it fills your cart, it checks stock at your store and swaps anything sold out for the closest match. Each swap is shown, and you can undo it. When the supermarket packs your order, its usual substitution settings apply.
Can I add my own recipes?
Yes. Save one from a recipe website, take a photo of a cookbook page or an old meal-kit card, or type it in. It's priced and planned with the house dinners. TikTok and Instagram links don't work.
